ABOUT
Adam Vu Noir (b. 1986) is a Vietnamese American multimedia artist based in Los Angeles, California. His work spans tattooing, illustration, large-scale painting, and sculptural installation. Drawing from pulp fiction covers, twentieth-century propaganda, religious iconography, and film noir cinema, he creates stark images that explore mortality, devotion, betrayal, isolation, and existential dread. Alongside this work, he repurposes discarded toys and antique coin-operated machines into interactive pieces that introduce chance and unpredictability into the viewing experience.
He has worked as a professional tattoo artist since 2008.
In 2016 he became the only living artist to have tattooed on all seven continents. His tattooing and paintings share a visual language built on non-traditional technique, strong composition, and psychologically charged imagery.
In 2017 he founded Strangelove LA, a tattoo studio and artist-run exhibition space in Los Angeles that hosts artists from around the world. His work has been exhibited internationally, and his practice continues to expand across painting, tattooing, installation, independent publishing, and creative partnerships with brands, musicians, and cultural institutions.
